Early start in the studio this morning to beat the

Early start in the studio this morning to beat the heat!

Got a few layers down on the commission works and then rearranged the space to refresh the flow.

Completed a stock take on art materials and wrapped up the morning with some show planning. Busy, but productive!

Nights like tonight are magical 🌟

The sunset skies at home wrap around us with vast, expansive colors as the sun dips. My phone can’t quite capture the full beauty of being here.

This season has brought the longest, hottest, and driest summer on record for this time of year. It’s nearly impossible to paint in these extreme conditions with bone-dry air. My paint dries faster than I can work, leaving unwanted marks on the surface.

I only have pockets of time to lay down a few layers. I’m at the mercy of the weather. I love the heat, but my paint and process don’t always agree. 🙃

Right now, I’m focused on finishing two commissions, two works for NZ ( March ), working on plans for two works for a Melbourne group show ( May ) and finalising sketch plans for my solo show ( Aug ).

Here’s to 2025 and cooler weather!

Ending the year with a little landscaping around t

Ending the year with a little landscaping around the studio 👏🏼 The crew have been preparing the pathways & irrigation for edging & planting.

2024 has been a very challenging year. My sister was diagnosed with an aggressive hormone related breast cancer which needed 6 rounds of chemo, radiation & is still on going with 3 more months of hormone treatments.

My Uncle stepped on a 3 corner jack ( prickle ) which ended up with a hospital transfer & an urgent surgery for a forefoot amputation due to infection, followed by a type 2 diabetes diagnosis & living with us for 6 weeks.

My mum went for a routine test & found two calcifications that required surgery to remove with radiation to follow in the new year.

My focus has been divided this year but I have been able to continue making new work for exhibitions & commission works.

The calm & composure within my works has also helped me through the year. It’s a reminder to be present in life & to take time when needed.

I’m still working in the studio as we approach Christmas 🎄 with three commissions in progress.
